Schools sit at the heart of their communities, great schools work in collaboration with their communities to respond to the needs and the environments around them. I have only been in the post for a little over a month now but in that time I have met with several members of Bohunt Horsham’s community. Our students, parents, neighbours, colleagues and students from other local secondary schools plus post-16 providers, local agencies, charities and local businesses. After each of these meetings I have felt increasingly excited about what kind of community we are creating and collaborating with. I have been overwhelmed with the positivity from our community but also by the support that everyone is willing to offer. There are still a few one-to-one parent drop-in meetings available; if you have made an application to Bohunt Horsham for a place in September 2019, you will have received an email inviting you to book one of these meetings.
I am really pleased to be able to report that we are still on track with the Department for Education’s timelines for both the re-purposing works at the temporary site on Hurst Road and the development of the permanent site on Rusper Road. There has been a change of ownership of the land the school will be built on but the DfE have met with the new owners already and they are completely on board with the project and the timeline for delivery. Bohunt Education Trust has been through the build process twice before, at our Worthing and Wokingham schools, both of which were completed on time and to the high standards upon which we insist and so I have a lot of expertise and experience in the team supporting me in both projects.
